God is so awesome.
There I was on Sunday night remembering all I had to do for the Car Wash the next morning. This is the first time I have planned and prepared for an event on my own. When I am in charge of something I get a lot of anxiety that keeps me up at night. My way of handling that was putting things off such as making signs and figuring out if I had enough supplies. Luckily I fell asleep somewhat peacefully the night before. I had to get up extra early the next morning and was rushing to prepare.
Once everything was purchased and set up by 10am.... we had our first customers. Before 11am we made $60 from generous donations. By noon we nearly had $500. Little did I know, my trip leader Todd took the $500 with him so we didn't have a lot of money laying around at once. He told my mom but I didn't get the message.
Some volunteers and I started tearing stuff down after 2pm. When I got home, I counted the money and thought we raised over $700. I was pleased with this amount, though I personally thought we'd make around $900.
I called Todd and his wife Nikki to let them know how much we made. Though I had no idea that they took the $500 with them, and they thought that the $700 included the $500... after awhile we figured out that God provided us with $1200!!!!
Isn't that crazy? $1200 made from a $3 car wash. That was all God.
I can not thank everyone involved enough. So many people who aren't even going to Kenya came out to help. I was worried about not having enough helpers, yet we have just the minimum amount necessary, and we were fine. People from church and complete strangers got a wash and donated.
It's so encouraging to see people care about our trip and cause.
My Kenya team needs just $700 more to pay off the trip. Just 4 more days until our 2nd Car Wash. I can't wait to see how God works again. :)
